The ICCA Consortium is a non-profit association that works at local, national and international levels to promote recognition of indigenous peoples’ and community conserved territories and areas (ICCAs). Traditional livelihoods, local ecological knowledge and customary laws are crucial to ecosystem conservation in ICCAs.
The objectives of the Consortium are to achieve respect for community and indigenous rights in these territories and to promote sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. Members include indigenous peoples’ organizations, community-based organizations and civil society groups from around the world.
- The ICCA Consortium website features research on ICCAs, an online registry for communities, grassroots reporting on issues and policy recommendations.
